To be a good fit for the IT Project Manager opportunity, you will have:
  • A bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Science or related discipline
  • 3+ years of experience with web development project management
  • Experience with UX/UI/Usability considerations for web and/or mobile solutions Quick question for you - click here
  • Solid understanding of software development SDLC and agile methodologies
  • Legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer
Just as important will be the following competencies and characteristics:
  • Self-initiative and a strong desire to take ownership of the project management function
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including:
    • 2+ years of experience communicating with cross-functional departments and teams
    • A demonstrated ability to follow up with stakeholders and keep them informed
    • The ability to translate between business owners and IT developers
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to:
    • Hold team members accountable to deadlines and quality standards
    • Provide decisive, focused solutions when problems arise
    • Manage conflict
    • Influence and motivate others, and be assertive when necessary
Preferred but not required:
  • Knowledge of eCommerce, supply chain systems and order lifecycles is highly preferred
  • Familiarity with B2B integrations and REST APIs
  • Familiarity with Azure DevOps
  • PMP or equivalent certification
You might work in our Chicago offices or from home; we'll provide a laptop. You are expected to complete at least 40 hours a week; however, due to the project-oriented nature of the work, there may be a need to work occasional evenings or weekends to meet deadlines or solve unexpected project complications. As a Project Manager, you will be responsible for planning and overseeing software development projects to ensure they are completed in a timely fashion and within budget. You will plan based upon available resources and timeframe, prepare project budgets, monitor progress, and keep stakeholders informed of all progress throughout the project lifecycle. This is all done within the confines of a company's goals and vision. This includes involvement and ownership in all aspects and phases of a technical development project from discovery to delivery. Thorough documentation and communication are essential for success in this role.

We'll look to you to be flexible, particularly at first, about supporting various projects -- it will help you get up to speed. Over time, you'll transition to the main project, but there always may be other tasks to handle. In addition, you will:
  • Partner with product owners to conduct interviews, gather requirements and perform research to compile comprehensive functional requirements
  • Document requirements in a clear and unambiguous manner using visuals, charts, examples, etc. as needed
  • Communicate requirements to a variety of audiences including product owners, architects, developers and test engineers
  • Develop and manage a detailed project schedule and work plan
  • Assist teams throughout the software development lifecycle acting as the subject matter expert and business representative
  • Assist in user story creation, user acceptance testing and other product management activities
  • Meticulously maintain and communicate details of active projects: status reports, outstanding deliverables, progress to timeline, progress to budget, concerns, mitigations, etc.
  • Work in a fast-paced, structured environment and be a team-oriented and company-oriented individual
