Job Purpose

The Accounts Payable Manager oversees and provides coordination of accounts payable department including, but not limited to: accounting operations, staff supervision, vendor relations, problem solving assistance, participation in department and office projects; and effective examination and utilization of department policies, procedures and resources.
 
Key Responsibilities
Lead AP process- including invoice processing, payments and month end close.
Supervise and manage activities of AP staff.
Mentor staff through coaching and training.
Assist with AP processing of invoices.
Perform weekly review of AP trial balance to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Investigate and resolve any reconciling items from AP trial balance to general ledger.
Ensure accurate and timely processing of vendor payments, expense reports and other related company expenses through checks, EFT and wire transfer payments.
Ensure correct processing and timely payment of invoices.
Participate in monthly financial close process by providing appropriate reports and analysis as required.
Establish and communicate standard operating procedures to improve accuracy and efficiency of AP team and expedite workflow.
Develop, implement and maintain systems, procedures and policies, including accounts payable functions to ensure adherence to company guidelines, US GAAP, and IRS regulations.
Respond to and resolve inquiries from vendors and internal customers in timely manner.
Support management by fulfilling auditor requests during financial, regulatory, compliance and tax authority audits.
Assist VP of Finance in preparation of various month end and year end reports.
Perform all other duties as assigned.
 
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, finance or related field preferred.
5+ years progressively responsible experience in accounts payable.
3+ year of supervisor experience.
Strong working knowledge of accounting operations, concepts, trends, techniques, policies and procedure; and the ability to execute the same.
Current knowledge of industry best practices, trends and techniques.
Microsoft Office experience is required; Excel, Outlook & Word.
Knowledge of ERP AP system a must; PeopleSoft and JD Edwards a plus.
